Making Flex Time Acceptable

There is a very interesting article on Career Journal.com that discusses means that corporations are making flexible time arrangements gender neutral, and through the process of focussing on men and women, making them more acceptable within corporate culture.

 

The article is Companies Pitch Flextime as Macho, by Jaclyne Badal. 

Here's a novel approach to keeping women in the work force: Focus on men.

Some employers are trying to overcome a perceived stigma on flexible work schedules — often viewed as a concession to women — by redefining the issue as a quality-of-life concern for everyone.

 

Having an advertising background I found the description of an ad campaign by Ernst & Young LLP very intriguing. 

 

This autumn, the New York office of accounting firm Ernst & Young LLP displayed a 9-foot poster — visible from the sidewalks of Times Square — highlighting Rob McLeod's promotion after taking a paternity leave. The poster, scaled down and sent to every office in the U.S., was part of a campaign to spotlight successful men who value their personal lives. Ernst & Young also created four videos — two starring men — illustrating the firm's concern for employee needs.
