Personal and professional coaching is a major part of Nurse Next Door’s development program. Formal and informal coaching and mentorship relationships are encouraged and supported to help develop individuals as they progress through their careers with Nurse Next Door.

Childcare
All full-time staff are able to bring their children to school should normal childcare arrangements fall through. In fact, it is a normal occurrence to see a few kids running around head office and bringing some extra energy!

Flex-time

All caregivers are offered highly flexible schedules to meet their own personal needs. Many staff are also able to tele-commute cutting down on travel times to and from work. Nurse Next Door’s flexible schedules are a major driver of the company’s top employer status and continues to be a focus.

The Mommy Shift
Two years ago, Nurse Next Door created something called The Mommy Shift. This shift is targeted at stay-at-home mothers who want to take part in other meaningful work while their kids are at school. Shifts take place between 9am and 2pm, Monday – Friday. Mothers also have the option of taking professional development days and summers off to spend more time with their children. This innovative program has been featured in over 30 media outlets across Canada and continues to generate a great deal of interest.

Career Development / Advancement

Nurse Next Door also provides internal training to help staff gain new skills to progress through their careers. Staff also have access to financial support for external development programs equaling to up to 4% of their annual income.

Volunteer Days
All full-time Nurse Next Door staff receive 1 paid day off per quarter to volunteer at a charity of their choice. This innovative program has allowed Nurse Next Door’s head office staff to donate 1 full working month to local charities!
