Below is some information regarding initiatives that Salmon Arm Savings & Credit Union are offering:

1. To support existing work-life initiatives at our credit union, we are offering a series of parenting seminars to interested SASCU employees. Our research has shown that leading organizations are offering parent education seminars as a way to support employees in their desire to balance work and family. We are also teaching our employees transferable skills such as communication, problem solving, encouragement skills.

The parenting seminars are held in the form of a lunch and learn format to a core group of employees who are interested in attending. The program has been developed and will be delivered by Allison Rees of LIFE Seminars in a tele-learning format. The seminar is 10 weeks in length.

2. Alternative working arrangements: job sharing, compressed work weeks, reduced work week and part time positions.

3. In the past we have offered work-life balance training to our managers so they can better support our employees and also support our culture. We have a corporate strategic work-life balance objective that we measure using our Employee Opinion Survey (annual). This objective is set by our Board of Directors.

4. Corporate Moms Program – a tele-learning program that was offered to interested new moms / moms of young children. It was held in a format that included a professional facilitator who led the session with about 6-8 moms every couple of weeks. We discussed issues related to balancing work and motherhood.
